Gamefold & Tariffs

Gamefold & Tariffs

Dear backers and customers,

We want to take a moment to update you on the current tariff situation and how it is affecting the Gamefold project.

As many of you may know, the United States recently imposed tariffs of up to 145% on goods imported from China. This has more than doubled the original production cost of each table. The impact has been significant across many industries, and like others, we have been directly affected.

We completely understand your concerns and frustrations, and we want you to know that we hear you.

You might be wondering, “What if you had shipped sooner?” It is a fair question. The honest answer is that we chose to address some early design flaws. Not because we were being overly picky, but because we explored several design solutions that required careful testing and verification before moving forward. While this did delay shipping, we strongly believe it was the right decision to ensure quality.

That said, production has not stopped.
We currently have two containers full of Gamefold tables arriving in the US in the next two weeks, with more on the way. International orders are already shipping out, and we are continuing to produce and hold United States orders as we monitor the evolving tariff situation and wait for more stable conditions.

The current tariff situation is frustrating and unpredictable, but we are exploring every possible solution. This includes alternate sourcing, long-term production strategies, and cost management to keep moving forward without compromising the experience you backed.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and your belief in this project. We are doing everything we can to deliver the Gamefold you have been waiting for.

More updates coming soon.

“Pre-order Cancellations: Pre-orders can be refunded before manufacturing for the order has started. Once manufacturing has started, customers will need to wait until they receive the item before starting the refund request process. After receiving the item, the refund request will be subject to the 30-day window.”

Does this mean that we won’t be able to get a refund on preorders because they are being manufactured while you intend to defer shipping indefinitely? Are you pausing pre ordered manufacture so that we can cancel? Or are orders considered being manufactured because you submitted your order to the factory?

Many of us have a lot of questions, and your replies so far just generate more.

To be clear, if we already received an email stating we should be getting a FedEx tracking number in the next 30 days, is it safe to assume those are still on time?

@Yarro, thanks for the update. It is appreciated. Not the best news, and frustrating, but this is where we are and it is what it is. Just keep trying

@kickstarter backers guys, come on. I’ve had…3..I think… different projects never get delivered and 1 that did but was subpar. Kickstarter is a crowd funding platform. On almost every page, it says there is no guarantee. We finance the company to make the product, but life happens. Yes, it was a sizable sum for some people, while others could afford it easier. Either way, you should go into this knowing it could fail. That’s part of the kickstarter process. Yarro is trying. Small companies don’t have the resources of amazon or Walmart. When this stuff happens, it hurts the little people. If you wanted a guaranteed product, you should wait till it’s ready for retail. Compassion all around should be used. Even though it’s a US tariff issue, most countries will feel some pain. Ride it out. Contact your representatives. Do whatever you can to try to get through this. Whether a globalist or nationalist, just practice some compassion.

Also, these tariffs should only affect NEW unpaid shipping costs and NEW unpaid production. So for those of us that have already paid both, why would this pause anything?

I purchased a table for my folks for Christmas – gave them pictures and videos of the table (they love to host game nights) and told them it’d be delivered in the spring. If this isn’t the case anymore, I need to tell them to stop being excited for it. If you think that cancellations and refunds are the strongest likelihood, we should know sooner than later…
