The party had 4 combat encounters, 3 of them exceptionally difficult on this map. Combined with a section of exploration, the party was perfectly content to make their way from the bridge to the Balor fight at the Ice Castle. An epic run indeed for an epic map. Everyone had a blast and it made prep so easy.
I have been DM’ing for some time now and love using maps to bring a game to life. While drawing out a dungeons and other settings works, it can slow down the flow of the game at times. These maps allow for a quick and easy transition of gameplay and help create the ambiance that enhances the entire experience of any game. The scrolls are genius use of not only space on a table, but also allow single setting encounters or a longer dungeon crawl for even more adventures. They give a nice fog of war feeling as I you unroll the map to reveal what lies ahead for the players and the suspense of the unknown.
Quality is great! Artwork is great! I would highly recommend to any gaming group looking for maps to enhance their sessions.
The art is great and there’s a lot to inspire a DM to craft a deadly adventure! Seems well-made and the colors are vibrant. But could use a couple small improvements. There are a few areas where elevation shifts could be a little more clearly defined. “Is this a ledge? If so, where is the edge? Is that a slope?” Also, the scroll begins abruptly with a bridge above a lava flow and ends abruptly with the far wall of the ice-fortress. It’d be nice to see at least a little of the area before or after these landmarks… just in case players want to retreat from the lava-bridge or try to sneak into the back of the ice-fortress.
But, those are minor issues and I’m glad I got this! This scroll could easily take at least 10 game sessions to get through if the DM populates it deviously enough.
So, I just got my order of the mad descent map and... Wow!! I didn’t expect what I got for what I paid for, the quality is superb!! I will be ordering more 🙂 thank you guys, this product is amazing!!!!
